SUBWAY’s history in Iceland
Back in 1994 the first SUBWAY restaurant in Iceland was opened. So for almost 20 years SUBWAY has catered for people in Iceland who want to combine healthy, tasty and quick meals. The entrepreneur behind SUBWAY in Iceland was Skúli Gunnar Sigfússon, who opened the first store in Faxafen, Reykjavik.
Now there are 23 SUBWAY restaurants operating in Iceland. Outside the capital region there are eight SUBWAY restaurants around the whole country.
We are proud to be part of this international chain that has over 40,000 restaurants in over 100 countries.
SUBWAY's objective all over the world is to offer a wide range of tasty, quick and healthy meals. It's really important to us that our menu offers a wide range of healthier food choices for a healthier lifestyle. Food safety and food quality are of paramount importance to us. Our quality assessments ensure our food meets the highest quality and safety standards. We are proud to provide our customers with more sensible fast food choices, such as our low fat sandwiches. We will continue to evolve our menu of great tasting, healthier options as well as provide access to nutrition information. We believe it is important to provide complete nutrition facts on all menu items so customers can make informed meal choices.
In every SUBWAY restaurant there is a wide range of low fat subs that contain only 6 grams of fat or less. No artificial trans fats are contained in any of our foods.
To ensure the best possible ingredients in our food our suppliers have to meet strict requirements. We bake our breads and cookies several times every day and our veggies are fresh and cut at each restaurant every day.
